The 7 Habits of Successful Movers

What you should know before moving

In this article, we will go through things to consider before relocating. Following these simple habits will really make the moving process easy. The following list goes in order of importance.

  1. Declutter your house A reoccurring theme we find with clients after were locate them is that they had too many belongings they didn't need. We always recommend our fellow movers to donate, sell and even throw away items they could do without. By ridding all the clutter from the beginning, the whole removal process becomes smooth and cost-effective. The fewer boxes we use, the less expensive the removal service will be!
2. Start thinking about your new utility services
The first thing you might want at your new place isa cup of tea, or perhaps a bath. Remove the stress of moving in without electricity, water and gas by setting this up early before the moving day.
3. Create an Inventory
If you are packing your belongings into your own boxes, creating an inventory is crucial. This reassures nothings gets lost and gives you peace of mind knowing where everything is, and most importantly, where everything is going. We understand that customers don't have the time to create inventories, which is why we offer to do this for them.
4. Use quality removal equipment and materials
If you're purchasing your own materials, make sure you get good quality. There's nothing worse than Sellotape that doesn't actually stick. The typical things you would need are tape, bubblewrap, zip tie bags, marker pens and labels. Paper bags and blankets also come in very handy so that you're belongings don't scratch inside the boxes. 5. Start by packing the least used rooms
Once you got the boxes and materials, the last thing you want is to be looking for things you've packed inside boxes before you've even moved. Trust me. Essential items should be the last thing you pack. The best places to start will be the attic, garage and spare rooms.
6. Label everything. Properly.
Labelling packed boxes properly means adding a brief summary of what is inside as well as the room it's going in.There will be no need to remember where you have placed your... Do this step right and the rest is a breeze.
7. Label the cupboards and drawers you've     emptied.
My favourite way to do this is to use coloured stickers and place them onto the areas I've already packed. It gives you the same sensation as a completed checklist. What’s more, when moving day is nearly here, you get to see what hasn't been packed yet.
